Thessaloniki Airport “Macedonia”

The modernization and reconstruction works in the existing building of Macedonia Airport were performed in four phases in the period 1997–1999. Then, in the period 2000–2006, the east and west sides of the building were extended with the addition of two new wings, while the Duty-Free area and the arrivals area were reconstructed. Finally, a new traffic arrangement and new area layout was made in the side of the building to the city.

The design was carried in seven phases and was submitted on a case by case basis to the Organization Cultural Capital of Europe – Thessaloniki ’97, Civil Aviation Authority, Hellenic Public Real Estate Corporation and the construction companies ANASTILOTIKI, DOMIKA ERGA, ANDREADIS ZISIADIS and METON.
